Meet Heidi Overman, Marketing Manager at Gulfshore Playhouse! - The Naples Moms

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in the area?
I’m originally from the Midwest, but I’ve lived in Naples for almost a decade now. This beautiful Naples community has become our family’s home.

Child(ren) and Age(s)?
My husband, Ryan, and I have one daughter, Adeline, who is a seventh grader at Seacrest Country Day School. She’s passionate about school, theatre and volleyball, and it’s been wonderful to watch her grow up as a Florida girl over the years.

Are you involved in a business venture or corporate world? Please Share!
I’m the Marketing Manager for Gulfshore Playhouse, the premier professional theatre company here in Naples. We’re about to open our new Baker Theatre and Education Center on the corner of Goodlette-Frank Road and First Avenue South, a huge milestone. Our brand-new state-of-the-art facility will not only elevate the quality of our productions but also provide an incredible space for us to hold even more education classes and community engagement events. It’s an exciting time to be part of Gulfshore Playhouse!

When did you decide you wanted to go into Marketing?
I’ve always been drawn to storytelling and connecting with people, so marketing felt like a natural fit for me. My daughter was part of a student production of a Junie B. Jones at Gulfshore Playhouse when she was just eight years old, and the quality and professionalism of that experience really stood out to me; it was clear that Gulfshore Playhouse was something special. Being able to tell the stories of such a vibrant, professional theatre company has been incredibly rewarding to be a part of.

Has theater always been a part of your life?
The arts have been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. Growing up, my parents placed a high value on the arts, so I was immersed in dance and music from an early age. Those experiences sparked a deep love for creative expression that has stayed with me. So now, to work in the theatre industry is absolutely incredible.

What makes Gulfshore Playhouse stand out from other theater companies?
Gulfshore Playhouse is truly unique. What sets us apart is our dedication to building every production from the ground up. Unlike many theatres, we create everything in-house—from set designs and costumes to lighting and scenic elements. This allows each show to be a one-of-a-kind experience that reflects our artistic vision and commitment to excellence.

We also bring in top talent from New York City and beyond, ensuring that our Naples audiences enjoy world-class performances that rival those in major theatre cities. Our actors, directors, and designers are among the best in the industry, working alongside our skilled artisans to craft productions that are visually stunning, deeply engaging, and thought-provoking.

This same level of quality extends to our educational programs, where we nurture the next generation of talent with the same high standards.

What do you recommend for parents looking to get started with Gulfshore’s Theatre program?
I highly recommend our student Conservatory programs. They’re a fantastic way for kids to explore their creativity, build confidence, and be part of a supportive artistic community. The instructors are all career theatre professionals, so your child will be learning from the best! With the opening of the new Baker Theatre and Education Center, students of all ages will get to learn and perform in state-of-the-art facilities, enhancing their experience even further. Whether your child is just beginning or already has a passion for theatre, we offer something for every age and skill level to help them grow and thrive in a creative, nurturing environment.

If you could give one tip to fellow Mom Entrepreneurs what would it be?
Balance is key. It’s important to set boundaries and to prioritize time for both your family and your work.

One thing people would be surprised to know about you…
I originally started my career in education, not marketing, and that foundation influences the way I approach my work today. My passion for helping young people grow and succeed led me to work with organizations like the Boys and Girls Club of Collier County and Champions for Learning. Through that experience, I discovered that marketing wasn’t just about selling a product—it was about telling a story and connecting people on a deeper level.

I found that my background in education gave me a unique perspective. I’ve always valued the power of storytelling and the importance of engaging with the community. It was a natural progression, and when the opportunity came to work with Gulfshore Playhouse, I knew it was the perfect fit.
