Meet Laura D. Wu of Bella Diva Fitness! | The Naples Moms

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in the area?
I am originally from Maryland. I grew up in Pasadena then lived in Annapolis after finishing up school. I moved to Naples, Fl 18 years ago.

Child(ren) and Age(s)?
I have 2 “Bonus” children. Charlie 17 and Hannah 15.5

Are you involved in a business venture or corporate world? Please Share!
After graduating college, I mostly ran my own business. A few times I worked for other wellness or medical companies, but a year after I finished school, I dove right into running the show with Bella Diva Fitness!

When did you decide you wanted to become a Nutrition Coach & Personal Trainer specializing in Women’s Health?
During college I decided to get certified as a personal trainer, because it helped gain experience while I was going to school for health sciences and biology. After I graduated, I left the fitness industry and worked in a professional medical setting helping patients through rehabilitation post injury or surgery. I appreciated the knowledge and applying my skills in helping patients, but I MISSED the energy and positive vibration I would get in helping someone meet a new goal or do something they never thought they could do in order to get stronger and healthier. I primarily started working with women only of all ages 10 years ago after experiencing a life or death health incident myself.

Has fitness and nutrition always been a part of your life?
YES! I grew up dancing until college and was always active in other areas growing up as well. My Mom cooked very healthy balanced meals 90% of the time and allowed us (my sister and I) to have soda and pizza on a Friday night or dessert on the weekend.

What do you recommend for someone looking to get started?
Start with small goals and steps. Creating new lifestyle habits, whether in working out more often or consistently or learning to be better prepared in the kitchen is like learning a new language. The small goals must be repeated over and over in order for them to become a part of your lifestyle and to be able to continue on to accomplishing more!

If you could give one tip to fellow Mom Entrepreneurs what would it be?
ALWAYS be positive no matter what. Failure is a part of growth. Change is scary and beautiful. If you’re not changing you are not growing! Oh and confidence is truly like a muscle, the more you use it the stronger it becomes.

One thing people would be surprised to know about you…
I have traveled to at least 12 different countries in 5 years. Not only do I love learning about different cultures, I love the experience. The food, (and wine of course), people, adventures, history. It is my time to fully unplug and recharge.
